Protective Orders

Safe Harbor offers victims of domestic violence, sexual assault or stalking assistance with the protective order or stalking injunction process. An advocate will discuss qualifications and options, assist with paperwork, file with the court, and accompany victims to the protective order hearing. We are able to help with the following orders:

  • Protective Orders
  • Protective Orders on behalf of a child
  • Civil stalking injunction
  • Dismissals
  • Modifications

What is a protective order? A protective order is a court document that orders another person to:

  • Not physically hurt you, not try to hurt you, and not threaten you, your children or anyone else who lives with you
  • Move out of your home due to domestic violence
  • Give you temporary custody of the children you have together due to domestic violence
  • Stay away from you, your home, your job or school, and not contact you or harass you in person, by phone, email or any other form of communication (including 3rd party)
  • Not have a gun or other weapons
