Detective Brandon Smith

Detective Brandon Smith has been a law enforcement officer for eight years, all with the Layton City Police Department. He is currently assigned as a Detective with a specialization in Adult Sex Crimes investigations. Det. Smith has received specialized training in the Trauma Informed Victim Interview, and he is currently an instructor for the Advanced Sex Crimes course offered through POST. Det. Smith has been the lead investigator for cases involving sexual assault, child sex assault, murder, attempted murder, Officer Involved Shooting, aggravated assault, and property crimes. Prior to becoming a police officer, Det. Smith served in the U.S. Army for four years as a medic. While in the Army, Det. Smith was detached to the Washington CID Battalion where he conducted undercover drug investigations for the Army in the greater Washington D.C. Capital area. Det. Smith has been married for nine years and has four children and a puppy. Det. Smith is an avid Jazz, Seahawks and Mariners fan, and he enjoys smoking meat on his Traeger during the weekends.
