10 Ways Your Donation Helps
Your gift can save a life! Every year Safe Harbor Crisis Center helps thousands of women, children, and men in the midst of crisis. The free services funded by the tax-deductible donations made by our generous patrons make Safe Harbor a place of hope and healing after domestic violence or sexual assault. Here are 10 ways your tax-deductible gift helps rebuild lives and create a future free of violence.
Your $100 Donation Buys...
Electricity for five shelter rooms for one month, which impacts up to 50 people.
Safe Harbor Crisis Center Domestic Violence shelter provides comfort and safety for hundreds of women, children, and men each year who have no other safe place to go as they heal.
Three-months of educational materials for the domestic violence and sexual assault recovery education and support groups.
The educational support groups offered at Safe Harbor help domestic violence and sexual assault survivors rebuild their lives.
Your $50 Donation Buys...
A complete apartment set-up for a family moving into transitional housing, including towels, sheets, and cooking utensils.
Safe Harbor Transitional Housing is a fresh chance at a new life. Wraparound services help move families away from violence to reduce intergenerational violence and homelessness, increasing their health, self-sufficiency, and strengthening the community.
A car seat for a child.
Many families come to Safe Harbor with only the clothes on their back and the car they escaped in. Domestic violence can cost a woman and her children everything. Providing essential safety equipment, like a car seat, helps her safely run the errands she needs to run to rebuild her life, like getting enrolled in job training.
Your $25 Donation Buys...
A one-hour in-take counseling session to assess individual needs and available options.
Whether a domestic violence survivor is ready to leave their abuser or not, s/he can receive services from Safe Harbor Crisis Center. During the in-take session with our trained staff, the danger level and available resources are determined, which offers hope and a chance at a future free of violence.
A medical co-pay for a check-up after an assault.
After a domestic violence incident or sexual assault, the survivor needs medical care immediately and on an ongoing basis. $25 can be the difference between receiving needed medical services or not.
Your $10 Donation Buys...
Toilet paper for the community bathroom at the shelter.
Many women live, work, and volunteer at Safe Harbor. Need we say more?
A play therapy toy or art supplies for children.
As domestic violence survivors participate in support and educational groups Safe Harbor offers children’s groups that are designed to help children cope with the aftereffects of violence.
Your $5 Donation Buys...
Personal hygiene products or over the counter medicines for shelter residents.
Every resident receives their own toiletries kit complete with sweet soap, shampoo and body scrubber, while s/he calls Safe Harbor home. These small niceties can uplift the spirit during a troubling time.
A one day bus pass for a woman to get to work.
While a woman recovering from domestic violence lives at Safe Harbor Crisis Center, she continues to work and try to rebuild her life. A bus pass to get to and from work helps her stabilize her life and move forward.
